Residence permit
To stay in Türkiye longer than your visa or visa-free period allows, apply for a residence permit (ikamet izni). The application starts online and ends with an appointment at the migration office.
Step by step
- Apply on e-ikamet before your current visa or visa-free stay expires, and print the application form.
- Prepare the documents, get health insurance valid in Türkiye, and pay the permit fee and card fee.
- Attend the appointment at the migration office (Göç İdaresi) with the originals.
- The card is sent by post to your registered address; track the status on e-ikamet.

- Address proof: title deed or notarised rental contract
- Health insurance policy
- Proof of sufficient income or savings
- Receipts for the fees
Good to know
- Apply early – an expired stay before applying can mean a fine or entry ban.
