Electricity. Change tariff if quota exceeded
When electricity consumption exceeds the annual state threshold set by EPDK (5,000 kWh/year for households), state subsidies are removed and bills jump to market rates (Son Kaynak Tedarik Tarifesi). You can mitigate this by applying to Aydem for a tariff plan change (e.g. switching to a three-rate plan, signing an eligible consumer contract, or optimising meters).
Step by step
- Check your 12-month consumption total on your Aydem bill, mobile app, or e-Devlet to verify whether you exceeded the threshold.
- Select an optimal tariff plan: switch from single-rate (tek zamanlı) to three-rate (üç zamanlı: day 06:00–17:00, peak 17:00–22:00, night 22:00–06:00) or negotiate an eligible consumer contract (Serbest Tüketici).
- Check your subscriber category: ensure your property is registered as residential (Mesken) and not commercial (Ticarethane) or construction site (Şantiye).
- Submit a tariff change request in person at the Aydem customer service centre in Fethiye or online via the Aydem portal / e-Devlet.
- ADM Elektrik inspects your smart meter to ensure it supports multi-tariff recording and updates the meter programming if required.
- The updated tariff takes effect starting from the next billing period following approval.
Documents
- Passport or residence permit (foreign ID number)
- Recent Aydem electricity bill or contract account number
- Title deed (Tapu) or notarised lease agreement
- Compulsory earthquake insurance policy (DASK)
- Tariff change application form
Good to know
- A three-rate tariff only saves money if you can shift energy-heavy appliances (pool filtration, water heaters, EV charging) to night hours (22:00–06:00). Peak hours (17:00–22:00) carry significantly higher rates.
- The annual quota is calculated on a rolling 12-month basis rather than resetting on January 1st.
- For large villas with pools or guest annexes, consult an electrician to check if adding a separate sub-meter or second subscription is technically feasible.
