Life sentence for the drunk driver who killed Lisa Di Palma in Çalış
A Fethiye court sentenced the driver to life imprisonment, a year after the fatal crash at a pedestrian crossing in Çalış.
A court in Fethiye has delivered its verdict in the case of British resident Lisa Di Palma, who was killed last year when a drunk driver hit her on a pedestrian crossing in Çalış and then drove over her a second time as bystanders tried to stop the car.
According to a statement by her husband, Keith Di Palma, who attended the hearing, the driver was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum of 30 years and no possibility of parole, plus an additional three months for lying in court.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Keith Di Palma thanked everyone for their love and support over the past year. The case drew wide attention in Fethiye's expat community.
